Ever get tired of using software that's horrible bloated crap, or has annoying Register Now! popups whenever you start it? I did too, so I went out on a search to replace every piece of annoying software I had with something more palatable. Every piece of software on this list is completely free, and the majority of it is freeware.

Feel free to E-Mail me suggestions, but keep in mind that I have some basic rules for any piece of software to be included on this site. It has to be completely free or have a completely free version, with no registration popups (Basically no shareware or crippleware). It has to be for the Windows series of OSs. And it has to have a relatively low memory footprint compared to other software that does the same thing.

June 03, 2007 - Replaced Azureus with uTorrent as the freeware torrent client of choice. Also replaced WCPUID with CPU-Z for computer hardware info. Added the audio editor Audacity to the Audio / Video page. Added the IRC client Bersirc to the Internet page as well as the eDonkey client eMule. Reorganized things so that foobar2000, 7-Zip, and FileZilla are now ranked highest in their respective categories. Changed GAIM to Pidgin, which is its new name, and updated the description accordingly. Updated url for XiRCON IRC client since the original website is now gone. Also added a new section for Malware detecting and cleaning software.

Feb 04, 2006 - Added GeoShell to the System section and the kX Project to the Drivers serction.
